Find what the brand needs to communicate
The starting point is your business, not a favourite colour. We discuss the audience, the category, the offer and the character the brand needs to express. Existing assets and customer touchpoints help show where the identity already works and where it feels inconsistent.
The brief separates strategic questions from production needs. A complete identity, a focused logo refinement and a set of campaign graphics are different scopes. We define the useful outcome before deciding how many assets to make.
Build a visual system that holds together
Type, colour, layout, imagery and a mark need to work as a family. The visual direction is tested against practical applications so it can carry real words and information, rather than only look good in a presentation.
For a website, the system must support readable content, accessible contrast and usable controls. For wider applications, the proposal identifies the relevant formats, dimensions and production requirements. The goal is a recognizable language that remains useful across contexts.
Connect the identity to actual content
Photography, illustration and art direction should support the story your business can tell. We clarify whether an image shows your own work, provides editorial context or represents a fictional concept. Accurate captions and permissions keep that distinction understandable.
Copy and design are considered together. A beautiful headline that says little about the business is not enough; the content must still explain the offer and the reason to take the next step. Where writing or photography is required, it is scoped explicitly.
Make the handover practical
Your team needs the right files and enough guidance to use them. We identify agreed export formats, basic usage rules, colour values and typography choices, along with relevant licensing and ownership terms in the project agreement.
Future applications can be added as the business grows. A practical first phase focuses on the materials you actually need for launch, then extends the system without losing its character.
What we can build into your scope
- Brand and audience discovery
- Visual direction and mood exploration
- Agreed identity or graphic design assets
- Typography, colour and image guidance
- Website and campaign applications as scoped
- Source files, exports and usage guidance as agreed
Your proposal defines the deliverables, responsibilities, schedule, fees and ongoing costs.
Questions about graphic design & branding
Can you work with our existing logo?
Yes. We first assess what is working and what the website needs. A project may refine the surrounding visual system without replacing the logo, or scope a broader identity if the business needs one.
Does branding include copywriting?
Only when it is part of the agreed scope. We identify the writing, photography and design responsibilities before work begins.
Will we receive the design files?
The project agreement specifies source-file access, final exports, ownership and any third-party licences. These details should be clear before commissioning the work.
